For high schools teachers, we also have a We Did It For You Resource Book filled with pre-show and post-show activities. The We Did It For You Resource Book provides guidance for teachers and students to extend the play-going experience into a valuable educational tool.

We Did It For You! Women's Journey Through History

There was a time when women couldn’t have jobs and had no voting rights. Women were property passed from father to husband. High-school student Melanie must learn how things changed. Originally developed for the Women’s Journey Conference of Orange County, We Did It For You! is an eye-opening tale, fun and educational, told through the stories of the historical women who made it happen.

Why we are doing this

The United States is losing ground in terms of female role models. (Source) There was more involvement in the 1970s. This inspiring play helps remind women the importance of being involved in leadership roles. Mothers and fathers love this play, want their high school kids to see it, learn from it, perform it. Ordinary women stood up and fought for the future, and because they did, we have our rights today. Let's take this message nationwide.

About Our Cast

Our actors that perform in WE DID IT FOR YOU! are older women who believe in the importance of educating women, especially young women, about the power and contribution of the women that came before. Each volunteer has researched the woman she represents and gives of her time and talent so that other women will understand how far they’ve come and what is left to be done.

We are currently booking performances in the Southern California area. Are you a drama teacher?

The script of We Did It For You! can be purchased and performance rights are available on a royalty basis. The We Did It For You Resource Book provides extensive pre-show activities for presenters, giving the teacher guidance on how to encourage acting students’ participation in the development of their characters.

With the history and the drama departments working in collaboration to develop materials for the show, a powerful learning experience can be had by all.
